Is there a way to create an *embossed* watermark in Visio 2003?

Here's an example:

I know how to create a regular watermark using either a layer or the
background, but this looks like it a modification of the image itself.

This "embossing" is a common feature of image processing software, PaintShop etc. Create a
blank image in your image editing software, add the text you want and set it to be
embossed.

So there's no way to do a "dynamic" embossed watermark that would
automatically get applied to new pages. I would have to manually add
it to each page?

I was hoping that maybe I could define the word (eg T E S T) in the
background (or a layer). Make the letters embossed with the edges
partially transparent and the fill 100% transparent. I'll fiddle
around with that.

Just create an image containing the watermark image and add that image to a background
page.
