Visio Pro 2002 Upgrade install on Windows 7

I'm trying to install Visio Pro 2002 Upgrade (32bit) on my new computer which
runs Windows 7 (64bit). The installation process wants to read from the
original Visio Technical 5.0 (16bit) that I upgraded from. The installation
fails with some problem about the 16bit Visio Technical 5.0 isn't valid for
this machine. How do I install my Visio Pro 2002 Upgrade on my new Windows 7
machine with this 16bit confirmation problem?

I would rather not have to buy a brand new Visio Pro just to get Visio on my
new machine.

It would appear the root cause might be that you are starting with a 16bit
app (which would be a Win7 issue, not a visio issue). Since you are
reluctant to move to something more current, you might consider trying the
Win7 virtual pc / xpmode and see what that gets you. Win7 also has the
compatibility mode as part of an installation (see if you can convince it
that it ran on a previous xp system).

Thank you for your response to my question. I have tried on the
compatibility mode path and it lead to the same result. The compatibility
wizard was the same. I have searched on Windows 7 help and Microsoft's web
site for "running 16bit application on Windows 7" and none came up. I even
tried to install under Windows 95 mode, but failed. I think this has to do
with installing a 32bit app but validating a 16 bit app on a 64bit machine -
all under one umbrella.

Personally, I don't like to upgrade for the sake of upgrading and the Visio
2002 was doing everything that I needed. Obviously, if this means that I
need to upgrade, then I will upgrade.

Could you please give me a link to Win7 virtual pc/xpmode info?
