Page color

Hi everyone,

I would like to make the entire color of a page something other than
white (a solid, but nonwhite fill).

Could someone please tell me how to do that?

Does this necessarily involve backgrounds? Actually, I am a little
unclear on backgrounds in any case.

Very funny.

The reason that I wanted to get a solid background color was to create a
logo for my website. I didn't want the white background to show
through, so I am setting up the background color to precisely match the
background color on my web page.

Actually, I could have simply put the logo on a rectangle just big
enough to hold the logo, but while I was at it I wanted to learn how to
make a background.

I have been using Visio for quite some time, but only now am I trying to
learn all of its nooks and crannies.

As in many threads that show up in the forums, without knowing the context
of the question we don't get the opportunity to come back with a more
focused response. There have been others that discovered the hard way that
what looks great on the screen can absolutely destroy a printer/toner
scenario.

I have been using filled rectangles as backgrounds for years but I thought it was just because I was too lazy to figure out how to make a "real" background.

Why do simple operations have to be complicated and unintuitive? I would have thought that File>Page Setup>Page Properties>Background would bring up a color/pattern palette, and still leave an option to set a page as a background. Would that be so difficult?

I guess that I have a slightly more difficult question then, after all.
I want some pages to have a white background and others to have my
solid, off-white background. And I would like to be able to easily choose.
Please, then, how can I do that?

Create a new page, make it a background page with some suitable name.
Add a rectangle shape, fill it with your colour.
Set the height and width to fill the page (you can also do this with
formulae). You might want to set the shape's line pattern to None.
Go back to your original page and set the background page (menu File
-> Page Setup -> Page Properties)
