"bus network" shape?
(too old to reply)

I'm working with a Visio Pro 2003 computer network diagram containing
a "bus network" shape. It contains a number of integral dangling legs
that I can attach various computers and other network elements to.
When I move the computers around the dandling legs move automatically,
I don't have to worry about that. I want to add more of these legs
that move around automatically but I can't figure out how to. The
shape does not have the yellow diamond control handle that allows
creating more network legs for Ring Network and Ethernet shapes.

I've search for help on "bus network" within Visio, on MS website and
via Google and there doesn't seem to be anything. As if this shape
doesn't exist. The only other clue I have is that the shape properties
Format | Special | Help is Vis_SBN.chm!#22387, although this page is a
general purpose page describing Ring Network and Ethernet shapes, not
the "bus network" shape.

Can anyone advice me? Thanks

The shapes have a limited number of legs that can be dragged out by using
the yellow diamond. It is possible to add more legs, but the process is a
bit involved and it is easier just to drop another shape on top and use the
connectors for that shape. Visually it will look the same, but if you query
the diagram through code, then the extra shape may be an issue.

In 2007 more legs were added to the shape.

John you say "It is possible to add more legs, but the process is a
bit involved"
Can you please tell us what the steps are to add more legs?

Please and thank you

It involves creating a new geometry section for each leg and new control
handles.

If you upgrade to Visio 2007, the ethernet shape has 60 built in legs.
