Discussion:
Stop automatic connections when dragging shapes in Visio 2007?
(too old to reply)

When using Visio 2007, when a shape on the drawing is dragged near a
connector on the drawing:
1. The cursor changes to scissors
2. Some of the connection points on the shape get outlined in bold
red.
Then when the shape is dropped, it is inserted in the middle of the
connector.
I don't always want this behavior; sometimes I just want to move the
shape.
Any ideas how to turn this off - either globally, or on a move-by-move
basis?

Thanks,
Bob

Thanks Al - that's just what I was looking for.
BTW, here's the help entry for that feature:

[ ] Enable AutoConnect
Enables the AutoConnect feature in drawings.

Hello,

I have Visio 2007 and I actually want my shapes to automatically connect with the scissor feature. All my settings appear to be the way they should be in order to get this to work, but I cannot get it to work. I've seen it work in 2003, but for some reason I cannot get it in 2007.

My General settings under Options that are enabled are:
- Live Dynamics
- Connector Splitting
- AutoConnect

I would really appreciate any help you can offer as to why I can't get this functionality.
